SAM the puppet firefighter springs into action when a student pulls a school fire alarm. Together with Firefighter Jim, SAM shows the kids why fire drills need to be taken seriously, how to safely exit a school, and how to stop, drop, and roll if clothes catch fire. SAM then extends the lessons into the home, showing kids how to make a fire escape plan, and how to identify fire hazards in the home, such as matches, kitchen appliances, and heaters.

Kids enjoy the familiar tunes SAM and his puppet friends have re-worked with fire-safety lyrics. Each of the three song sequences are repeated at the end of the tape to help reinforce the fire safety message, and the lyrics are printed in the leader's guide to encourage kids to sing along.
