Syndistar’s Terrorism Series provides a wide-ranging and realistic survey of the threats of terrorism and bioterrorism and the steps citizens can take to reduce their vulnerability.
The video “Coping With Terrorism in a Changing World” and its accompanying pamphlet explores the dynamics of terrorism and society’s principal vulnerabilities. It stresses the need for public vigilance and preparation. A second video “Bioterrorism: Facing the Threat and Staying Safe” and its corresponding pamphlet provide an overview of the six diseases considered the most plausible potential terror weapons – anthrax, tularemia, plague, viral hemorrhagic fevers, botulism and smallpox. They describe the communicability, avoidance strategies, early symptoms, treatment and prognosis of each of the diseases, but stresses that mounting a successful bioterror attack would be quite difficult. Six booklets exploring each of the biothreats in greater detail round out the series.
