The Juvenile Firesetting Series provides guidelines for educators to conduct fire play prevention programs with adults and kids.
Two hard-hitting videos teach children the costly and sometimes deadly consequences of fire play. Interviews with a young man terribly disfigured by a fire he started are presented in the In A Flash: The Consequences of Youth Firesetting video. In Striking Out With Matches, the dramatization of the death of a fire-obsessed boy drives home the potential tragedy of accidental arson. These videos give viewers a reality check into the dangers of youth fire play so children think twice before ever striking a match.
The Juvenile Firesetter series educates young people on fire, how it is spread, and the results of setting fire, including potential criminal penalties. These lessons are taught through two videos, a teen ‘zine, a pamphlet and a manual which provides complete instruction for creating and operating a community juvenile firesetter prevention and intervention program, keeping communities and children safe from the dangers of fire.
The series also includes information for the firesetter's parents, guardians and/or educators. Adults learn the warning signs of a potential firesetter so they are able to intervene to break the pattern.
